
Dr. Shaily Gandhi
Dr. Shaily Gandhi is a distinguished GIS expert with over 12 years of experience in geospatial technology. She earned her Ph.D. in Geospatial Technology from CEPT University, India, focusing on integrating GIS with governance.
Currently, Dr. Gandhi is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the Geo-social AI Research Group at IT:U, Linz, Austria, where she explores the convergence of GIS, data science, and GeoAI models within urban environments. Prior to this, she worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Salzburg.
She has held leadership positions, as Program Chair for the M.Tech program in Geomatics at the Faculty of Technology and Deputy Center Head for the Center for Applied Geomatics at CRDF, India. She has experience of working on both local and International projects and teaching.
Her outstanding contributions have been recognized globally; she was honored as one of the Geospatial World 50 Rising Stars in 2023 and awarded the International Science Council Fellowship in 2024 . Additionally, Dr. Gandhi co-chairs the CODATA-RDA Schools of Research Data Science, reflecting her commitment to advancing data science education . She is also an active member of IEEE GRSS.
